EMB Wins Second Queen’s Award in Four Years.
EMB was established thirteen years ago with just four people and no clients. It has since grown into Europe’s largest non-life actuarial consultancy, and has won its second Queen’s Award.
Epsom-based EMB received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise which recognizes their outstanding achievement in International Trade, resulting in substantial growth in overseas earnings and in commercial success. EMB’s overseas operations have grown rapidly and consistently over a period of more than ten years. Turnover has increased by approximately 20-25% p.a., and continues to do so.
EMB has opened twelve offices in ten overseas territories during this time, and they have also become by far the largest creator of non-life actuarial software products in the world. The vast majority of the large international insurers and reinsurers, as well as hundreds of smaller firms and Lloyd’s syndicates, are among their clients.
In 2003, EMB received the Queen’s Award for Innovation.
“The insurance industry has taken quite a few knocks in recent years, and we are delighted to fly the flag for a sector that makes a massive and often under-rated contribution to the UK economy,” said partner Mike Brockman.
EMB employ more than 150 staff in the UK and approximately 100 others around the world. “As we open more overseas offices, and the existing ones continue to expand, we anticipate that they will become the bigger part of the business within five years,” said Brockman.
