Biographies
Andrew McLennan, FIAA FIA
 Andrew McLennan is a Senior Consultant with EMB America LLC. Prior to joining EMB America, Andrew worked in for EMB Consultancy LLP in the UK where he specialized in implementing ERM / DFA solutions for clients in response to the Financial Services Authority ICAS regime and Solvency 2 in continental Europe.
Andrew’s primary area of practice is Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and loss reserving. Particular examples of Andrew’s past experience include:
ERM/DFA Experience • Peer reviews of Lloyds’ Syndicate internal capital model • Process design for multinational reinsurers • Model design and implementation for primary insurers • Loss Reserving variability for a commutation across lines of business • DFA model used to determine pricing strategy for national accident insurance fund Loss Reserving Experience • Sarbanes–Oxley implementation for major insurance group • Loss reserving variability assessment. • Implementation of EMB’s loss reserving software, ResQ. • Training on loss reserving and reserve variability methodologies.
Andrew graduated from Australian National University in 1999 with first class honors degree in Actuarial Studies. He became a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia (FIAA) in 2003 and a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in 2006.
Andrew co-authored a paper, “A Method for Projecting Individual Large Claims” (CAS LRS: Fall 2006) detailing a method to calculate gross and net reserve variability in a consistent framework.
